Certification - Certified Management Accountant

Certified Management Accountant (CMAŽ)

Certified Management Accountant (CMAŽ) program is provided by The Institute of Management Accountants (IMAŽ) which is the world's leading organization dedicated to empowering management accounting and finance professionals to drive business performance. The CMAŽ certification represents a broad business competency and mastery of the management-level skills required to add value, drive business performance, and build quality financial practices within organizations. The program objectively tests and validate expertise in areas essential to analyzing, managing and evaluating business solutions that contribute to the success of an organization. The CMAŽ credential indicates a commitment to excellence based on a strong, ethical foundation and dedication to lifelong learning.

Eligibility

To be certified as a CMA, candidates must fulfill both an education requirement and an experience requirement. Verification of one of the following must be presented prior to completing the examination or within seven years of passing the examination in order to complete the education requirement:
  • Bachelors Degree, in any area, from an accredited college or university.
  • Degrees not from accredited foreign institutions must be evaluated by an independent agency approved by the ICMA (www.naces.org and www.aice-eval.org).
  • All transcripts must be submitted in English and show the official seal of the college or university.
  • Score in the 50th percentile or higher on either the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).

  • CMA Certification Objectives

    The CMA Program has four objectives:
  • To establish management accounting as a recognized profession by identifying the role of the management accountant and financial manager, the underlying body of knowledge, and a course of study by which such knowledge is acquired;
  • To encourage higher educational standards in the management accounting field;
  • To establish an objective measure of an individual's knowledge and competence in the field of management accounting; and
  • To encourage continued professional development by management accountants.
